This 34kg black racing machine is a son of Larkhill Jo (UK) out of the Spiral Nikita (Eire) bitch, Frosty Rose (Eire)
who is a litter sister to the brilliant Late Late Show (Eire).
Digital (Eire) at only his 9th start in a race smashed the track record
at Thurles running 28.11 winning by 14 lens. The next fastest on the night was 28.76. Charity Jack (Eire) also won on the
night in 29.03 and he held the previous track record at 28.28.
Digital's (Eire) time of 28.11 was just .03 outside Premier Fantasy’s (Eire) National 525y record of 28.08.
The first round of the 2005 Irish Derby was only Digital's (Eire) 11th start in a race. At 2½ years old he was 6 months
younger than the big guns of that year, namely Droopy's Marco (Eire), Tyrur Ted (Eire), Droopy's Maldini etc.
He was runnerup in the first round defeated a ½ head by Tyrur Red (Eire) in 29.65 which was the fastest time of the night.
Droopy's Maldini (Eire) and Droopy's Marco (Eire) both went 29.77, while Blue Majestic (Eire) went 29.83 and Westmead Hawk(Eire) went 29.98.
Digital (Eire) won the second round, defeating the eventual Derby winner, He Said So (Eire) by a head with the eventual Derby runner up, Droopy's Maldini (Eire) by 3 lens away 3rd in 29.94.
The fastest was Droopy's Marco (Eire) in 29.72, Satellite Flight (Eire) went 29.78, Geldrops Touch (Eire) went 29.91 and Tyrur Ted (Eire) won in 29.94.
He won the 3rd round defeating Mall Road (Eire) as a 4/7 fav in 29.88 on the same night Droopy's Maldini (Eire) went 29.52, Annies Lamb (Eire) went 29.66, He Said So I (Eire)
and Tyrur Ted (Eire) both went 29.70 and Geldrops Touch (Eire) went 29.80.
Digital (Eire) won the 4th round defeating Blue Majestic (Eire) by 5 lens in 29.65 with Spiral Citrate and Disguised running 3rd & 4th.
Droopy's Maldini (Eire) was the fastest of the 4 semis in 29.57, with Westmead Hawk (Eire) going 29.66,
He fell in the Semi Final won by Droopy's Marco (Eire) when a 5/2 second favourite and the next week he ran third> in
the Derby Consolation as an even money favourite.
At his next start Droopy's Maldini (Eire) which was his 17th and his last in November 2005 at just over 2½ years of age
defeated Tyrur Ted (Eire) in the Group 1 Waterford Masters by 2½ lengths.
Digital (Eire) cracked a metatarsal soon after and didn’t fully recover from the injury and
was subsequently put to stud while injury mended.
