Peter and Astrid Helms Greyhound Rearing Complex is situated 30 mins west of Shepparton near Kyabram, approximately 2 hours from Melbourne's northern suburbs.
The complex has been established from new about 6 years ago and incorporates ;
- dry, warm and well ventilated kennelling
- 60 metre runs
- 160 metre runs
- small pens
- large pens
- five acre galloping paddock
- 1.8 metre boundary fence
Peter and Astrid Helms Greyhound Rearing Complex take care to minimise accidents to dogs entrusted to them. Holes are filled and runs mown regularly. The property is irrigated to keep the runs green and soft. Trees have been planted and shade cloth areas erected for the summer.
Peter and Astrid Helms Greyhound Rearing Complex feed, fresh beef and milk, pellets, cod-liver oil, stockgain and dicalcium phosphate. This is the main meal which is fed to each dog individually in bowls. The second daily meal consists of bread or biscuits or maybe a takeaway day of pies and pasties on the odd occasion. Water is off the ground and replenished daily.
