About Heat Reflective Treatment
The application of heat to assist in healing injuries is widespread, as is the pre-exercise warm-up for the
prevention of injuries. Many methods of delivering heat have been employed and they include simple solutions such as
massage and warmer clothing along with a multitude of potions and liniments containing ingredients which generate heat.
There are also many techniques which involve application of energy from different sources such as ultrasound, laser, infrared and diathermy.
Many manufacturers worldwide make claims about the effectiveness of their unique solution. Because most of these
remedies do actually deliver HEAT, they are quite effective, however they all have one or two drawbacks in practical
use. They either :-
- Require the application of expensive specialist skill to be effective and/or
- Require expensive equipment or consumables.
The philosophy behind the MIRoTEC's HEAT REFLECTIVE TREATMENT was to find a way to
utilise the body's own heat and reflect it back, ensuring a passive and inexpensive heat treatment capable of being
safely used by non-experts.
Compared to traditional methods of applying heat to injuries, MIRoTEC is easy-to-use as well as a natural,
drug-free product. MIRoTEC does not need to be plugged in or put in the microwave, so can be applied any time,
anywhere. No more messy creams or alcohol skin rubs...saving not only your clothes but your money as well.
Mirotec Greyhound Rugs
MIRoTEC Greyhound Rugs have been very well accepted for use by the Greyhound industry in Australia. In 1998 Sandown Park purchased 30 MIRoTEC rugs (M, L & XL) to use as part of a pre-race warm up when dogs parade from the kennels to the starting boxes. In 1999 Greyhound Racing Victoria purchased 30 rugs for every track in Victoria - they are used to help stabilise body temperature.
MIRoTEC Greyhound Rugs are popular with trainers who are using them at home in the kennels. Rugs are available from and are recommended for use by the Sandown Veterinary Clinic. Other states have shown interest in adopting MIRoTEC Greyhound Rugs for pre-race warm up. Wentworth Park, Bulli in NSW, Angle Park in South Australia are leaders in this new area of improving greyhound performance.
As well as the proven benefits in warm-up procedures, MIRoTEC Greyhound Rugs can be used
to help treat injuries and specific conditions such as Acidosis. Time usage can vary per dog - some dogs will appear
more relaxed when wearing the rug. It is advisable to muzzle your dog when using rug. During inclement weather it is
possible to use the rugs overnight. Some trainers use MIRoTEC products for a few hours a day while others prefer overnight use. MIRoTEC Greyhound Rugs are very effective when used while travelling to and from tracks.
